At Avalon Fishing Fleet, it is easy to have the best possible experience. The family business started with Captain Oggie Hurd manning the ship until 1972. He then turned the business over to Captain Jerry Hurd. In 2012, Captain Jerry retired, and Captain Irv Hurd purchased the business, where he has happily been ever since. His son, Captain Brandon Hurd is skipper of The Avalon Lady. This multiple-generation business has become a well-known, trusted name in Avalon and the surrounding islands.
With their two boats, The Miss Avalon and The Avalon Lady, they offer fishing and so much more. The Miss Avalon fishes on the ocean seven days a week and takes guests on dolphin and nature cruises on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The Avalon Lady fishes every day and does crabbing trips on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The Avalon Lady also holds four weeks of summer fishing and crabbing camps, where young anglers are taught about fishing, crabbing, and boating safety. Both boats do private fishing charters and private party cruises.
