Located in the heart of Fish Alley, Sea Isle Bait & Tackle will celebrate its 10th anniversary under its currently ownership on May 1. Originally opened by Garry Gibson in 1979, the store changed hands a couple of times before eventually going out of business. Michael Cunningham worked for Gibson throughout high school and after graduation before starting a wildlife-control business (Critter Getter Wildlife Solutions). He reopened the bait-and-tackle business with his wife Becky 10 years ago.
They have been working hard to ensure Sea Isle Bait & Tackle remains one of the county’s premier bait and tackle shops. The store carries a large selection of bait, tackle, rods and reels, crabbing supplies, beach goods, rafts, bug spray, sunscreen and so much more.
“Sea Isle has been a fishing community for hundreds of years and we need to keep the tradition alive,” Cunningham says. “Fishing and crabbing are family-friendly outdoor activities that anyone can participate in. We are happy with the new fishing and kayak pier going up behind Dealy Field and hope the city continues to invest in public access to the water for families to enjoy.”
