What started as a graphic design project for three college roommates back in 20211 at Flager College has become well-known on the east coast on beyond. Hank Sauce, celebrating its 10th year in business this year, goes far beyond just hot sauce. The guys first launched their product in Sea Isle City at the Farmers Market in 2011 and then opened a restaurant in the Townsends Inlet portion of town in March 2012.
In 2018, they took their business another step further; After making the product by hand for nearly 7 years, they moved into a new, larger production facility in Millville, NJ allowing the company to grow rapidly and gain more shelf space throughout the country while adding new sauces to the lineup.
While you can still see the guys working hard at the weekly Farmers Market in town each summer, you can also stop by their restaurant and enjoy the menu that features a delicious blend of American com-fort food mixed with a little bit of island style.
After working in multiple restaurants in and around St. Augustine, FL, Hank was influenced by local and Caribbean style cuisine and creativity. Scratch made mango salsa, seared Ahi burritos, shrimp tacos, cooked-to-temp burgers, and wildly creative sandwiches are always on the menu!
The sauces are more about flavor than heat overall, but there is still a few flavors that bring the heat and then some. One of its more crowd-pleasing sauces is the CILANKTRO flavor because it is mild in heat and wild in flavor! Fresh herbs and garlic are present throughout the sauces, with seasonal spe-cialties utilizing local peppers.
The restaurant is currently open Friday and Saturday 12pm-8pm, and Sunday 12pm-4pm.
