The Deauville Inn has been around for 140 years and originally was named the Whelen Hotel. James P. Carothers built the hotel in 1881 when Strathmere was still known as Corson’s Inlet. In 2019 Dr. Tim Fox, a longtime resident of Strathmere, accepted the opportunity to acquire and restore the historic Deauville Inn. The Deauville Inn offers American seafood, a seafood bar, a pub, packaged goods, a sand bar, and waterfront dining. The Deauville Inn is also a popular venue for high end beach weddings.
The Deauville Inn is working on additional improvements and aims to be the must-see destination of the New Jersey shore. They are currently producing a dining experience series, touring the various regions of Italy. Their first stop on the culinary tour is on January 23 at 5pm, where they will be featuring the flavors of Tuscany, paired with wines from the region. The Deauville Inn is open Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm and 10am-11pm on Sundays.
