The story of Carmen’s Seafood Restaurant begins in 1943 when Aniello and Concetta Conti came to the United States from the Italian island of Ponzi. They purchased a commercial property on 43rd Place in Sea Isle City, where they built the original shack as their own small fish house. Together they had seven children. Their oldest son Carmen started helping his father fish full time when he was 14. After Aniello passed Carmen took over his father’s fishing business and also started using the shack as a mechanic shop.
In 1970, Carmen and his wife Ruthy had an idea to open a seafood market serving only lobsters to take home. After having two children, Carmen Jr. and Carrie, Carmen’s Seafood Restaurant was established in 1981. As the first few years went by, Carmen and Ruthy worked very hard, buying property on both sides of the original parcel, and gradually the restaurant grew into its present size by 1993, seating over 300 people on the long outdoor dock, overlooking the beautiful bay. Carmen's has become a family tradition for thousands while enjoying their vacation at the Sea Isle shore. This family restaurant is where the owners treat your family like their very own.
Today, Carmen’s continues to serve its customers with one of the most extensive menus at the Jersey Shore. Carmen Jr. and his commercial fishing business provide fresh caught lobsters, crabs and fish. Meanwhile, daughter Carrie Foulke is hard at work baking her delicious homemade desserts including a wide variety of pies. Carmen’s menu features Conti Family recipes, where only the highest quality ingredients are used, and thanks to its loyal customers, the tradition lives on!
Carmen’s is open for breakfast and lunch starting around mid-June from 8am-3:30pm, and dinner is served daily at 4pm. Click here for pre-season hours.
