The Cape May Lewes Ferry is not only a convenient way to get from New jersey to Delaware and back, it’s also an enjoyable trip if you just want to take a ride. Beginning on July 1,1964, the ferry fleet now has almost 6 decades of experience taking the 17-mile trip across the Delaware Bay. Today, more than 17 million vehicles and 50 million passengers have taken this trip. In fact, on October 13, 2023, they welcomed aboard their 50 millionth passenger. There are three ships currently in the fleet and they can accommodate up to 100 vehicles and 800 passengers for this 85-minute journey. Amenities on board include elevators, air conditioning, television, wireless internet access, and comfortable seating. Take a trip and enjoy historic lighthouses, picturesque harbors, ocean-going vessels, unique seabirds and, just maybe, your very own dolphin escort! Once you are back on land, take some time to explore the ferry gift shop, enjoy a meal or drink at On The Rocks Dockside grill (open seasonally May - September in Cape May, or seven days a week in Lewes), or play a free round of mini-golf!
